Cuando Se Abren Las Puertas
The exhibition "Cuando Se Abren Las Puertas - As the Doors Open" goes into the depths of our identity, belonging and differences, questions concepts such as house and home, and invites us on a journey that aims to redefine the reality we live in. Individuals' search for identity and belonging, and the need to exist with their differences, is one of the fundamental existential issues of humans. Beyond just a biological or sociocultural definition, identity determines the way a person perceives himself and his environment. While being different and feeling different leaves deep, sharp and intense traces in a person's inner world, it also examines the limits of social acceptance. Are the identities we belong to, the existences we want to be, all our similarities or differences a source of wealth or a heavy burden we carry on our backs? While the exhibition searches for answers to these questions holistically with all its artists and their different works, it drags the viewer to think about their own search for identity, belonging and home.

Turkish artists taking part in the exhibition; İlhak Altıparmak, Antonio Cosentino, Burcu Gökçek, Yonca Karakaş, Ecem Dilan Köse, Studio Pinprick, Meltem Şahin, Halil Vurucuoğlu and Gamze Yalçın examine intertwined concepts such as home, belonging, identity, existence and home in the exhibition with the works they produce in different disciplines. Works produced in mediums such as painting, video, installation, weaving/punch, photography and collage offer a colorful, alluring and attractive program.
The concepts of house and home are discussed with their emotional and social dimensions, beyond physical conditions. In the words of Egyptian writer Naguib Mahfouz, "Home is not the place where you were born. It is the place where all your attempts to escape end." This intense expression reminds us that house and home are not just a geographical place, but also a spiritual and emotional harbour. While the meaning of house and home is questioned in the exhibition, it goes beyond physical spaces and explores internal spaces.
